Chapters Books and Gifts is an independent, woman-owned book, toy and gift store, located on the historic downtown square in Seward, Nebraska, since 2004. We sell new children's and adults' books in all genres; high-quality, unique toys for children; jigsaw puzzles and games for all ages; and gifts for everyone. If we don't have what you're looking for, ask, and we'll do our best to find it for you.
Former U.S. Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize-winner Ted Kooser is a frequent visitor to Chapters. As his hometown bookstore, we have signed copies of most of his books in stock, as well as books by other Nebraska authors. Carla's debut, a picture book biography of Ted published by University of Nebraska Press, releases in Fall 2023. We'll have signed copies of Ted Kooser: More than a Local Wonder available, too!
We strive to work cooperatively with the Friends of the Seward Library, the Seward Community Read to Me Program, Concordia University, the Seward Arts Council, area schools, and other organizations to promote literacy efforts and a love of books in our community and beyond. If your organization would like to bring an author to town or needs someone to sell books at an event, let us know. We're happy to work with you.
